Patient Rights (2023)

This self-study training has been created to increase your awareness of patient rights and your responsibility for maintaining those rights. A certificate will be immediately available online following successful completion of all course material.

Target Audience
This course is for anyone who works at a facility that provides patient care or provides referrals for patient care. All health care staff needs to be aware of all the things her patients are entitled to. These entitlements are known as “rights” and are listed in our Patient Bill of Rights.

Objectives
The purpose of this course is to increase your awareness of Patient rights and your responsibility for maintaining those rights.

  • Upon completing this course, you will be able to perform the following tasks:
  • Discuss the Patient Bill of Rights and your responsibilities to protect those rights.
  • Describe how to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • List ways to maintain patient privacy.
  • Describe three important principles for dealing with people from different backgrounds.
  • Describe signs and symptoms of abuse and how to report it.
  • Describe your ethical responsibilities in regard to patient rights.
  • Discuss Advance Directives and how they are used.
